Exhibition of Floral Masterpieces in Zwettl Stift: A Triumph of Nature and Ecology.
On September 7th and 8th, 2024, an extraordinary exhibition took place in the picturesque town of Zwettl Stift, Austria, bringing together lovers of floral art from various parts of Europe. At the Academy of Natural Design, the diploma works of newly certified floristry masters were proudly presented—unique masterpieces resulting from months of learning, creativity, and passion.
This exhibition, marking the grand finale of this year's examinations, featured a diverse array of floral compositions that impressed both with their artistic execution and profound messages. Among them were funeral floristry, artistic plantings, wedding bouquets, floral jewelry, and various themed arrangements. Particularly striking were the projects based on the theme "WOMEN", displayed both in the monastery’s mysterious cellar spaces and across the vast exhibition grounds of Zwettl Stift.
One of the most significant moments of the exhibition was the presentation of funeral arrangements in the diocesan church, which added a special spiritual dimension to the entire event. This symbolic fusion of art and the sacred deeply moved visitors and sparked profound reflections.
A key highlight of the exhibition was its truly international nature. Eighteen women from various countries, including Austria, Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Italy, presented their works. Despite their diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives, they all spoke a universal language—the love for nature, flowers, and a commitment to future generations. Ecology and sustainability were at the heart of the exhibition, reminding us that thinking about tomorrow is just as important as caring for the world today.
It is no coincidence that the Academy of Natural Design has earned a reputation as a training ground for true masters of floristry. Rooted deeply in the philosophy of respect for nature, this school educates florists who not only perfect the art of floral arrangement but also understand the significance of ecology and sustainable development.
Having had the opportunity to visit many floristry schools and witness the works of numerous masters, I can confidently say that the Academy of Natural Design in Zwettl Stift is a truly unique place. This is where a journey with flowers should begin, as the school not only teaches but also inspires the creation of floral art that touches both hearts and minds.
I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the newly certified floristry masters and wish them great success and an endless adventure with flowers. I will certainly return next year to once again immerse myself in the atmosphere of this remarkable place, where nature speaks through floral masterpieces, and to leave with the deep satisfaction of knowing that such a place exists in the world.
Great respect and warm regards to the head of the Academy of Natural Design, Mr. Franz Josef Wein.
